Morton is a well established fishery of 22 acres which is set in beautiful woodland surroundings some 900 feet above sea level. As half the bank has an artificial dam wall, this gives the angler a chance to fish a variety of flies and patterns at different depths at the fishery.
The fishery holds a mature stock of Brown
& Rainbow trout and have introduced Blue Trout in 2007, many fish taken at
Morton are in excess of 3lbs in weight.
Morton was a private angling club prior to becoming a commercial fishery in 1983.
Julie Hewat who has worked at the fishery since it opened in 1983 now runs
the fishery who is readily available to give advice on all aspects of fly
fishing from both bank and boat
In 2006 Julie handed the
reigns of Morton Fishery to her husband Charles. Charles Hewat has assisted
with the running of the fishery for some time and has an in-depth knowledge
of Morton and the surrounding area having lived and worked the area for many
years.
